Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a wonderful trekking experience that takes you through Langtang region and to higher altitudes of Gosaikunda. Walking through the forests and valleys, we will get to experience a scenic view of holy Gosaikunda Lake.

 

The trail starts with Syabrubesi to Langtang village and to Kyangin Gompa. The adventure then takes you to the sacard Gosaikunda that waits with magnificient sunrise view over sparkling lakes. The trail will have beautiful glimpses of  Himalayan ranges like Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakhpa, Ganesh Himal, and more or less other dazzling small peaks.

 

For those who are looking forward to a longer trek in Langtang region, Langtang-Gosaikunda is definetly the trek  for you.

 

Packing Reminder

 

Make sure you have packed enough warm clothes along with thick socks, scarfs, gloves, and proper trekking boots. Do not forget sunglasses as it will be more useful than just fashion on the route. To not littre the trekking region, make sure to carry your own water bottle too. Make sure you have all the other necessities including charger, heat packs, torch, and hiking poles because you cannot buy it there again.

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Highest Altitude: 1350 m

Welcome to the land of Nepal. As your flight lands at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representatives will escort you and your stuff to your designated hotel in Kathmandu. Rest, freshen up, and explore Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu. You must also make sure that you are well prepared for the trek, including proper shoes, equipment, clothes, and others. It is better if we get to brief you on the itinerary before the trek begins.

Day 2: Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,462 m/4,796 ft)

We will take a seven-hour journey to the Langtang Valley, where we will be climbing high over ridges that have impressive views of the Annapurna Himalayas in the west. With frequent mountain views, and greenery along the way we will be driving through the town of Trisuli. The roads are quite uneven and bumpy but all these scenes make it entertaining. Enjoy some more views of terraced farmlands, Ganesh Himal, and the Trishuli River here. Climbing towards Dunchee and Langtang National Park, the views gradually change from city to remote area. After an hour more drive, we will finally reach the destination of the day: the town of Syabrubesi.

 

Day 03: Syabrubesi (1,462 m/4,796 ft) to Lama Hotel (2,380 m/7,809 ft)

Today we will start with a walk across the Bhote Koshi River (meaning ‘Tibet River’) and Langtang Khola. Ascending to Bamboo through sub-tropical forest with oak trees and rhododendron, which is an easy one, we will walk across the landslide-prone area. Then going next to the riverside, we shall take a break at Ramche and continue towards Lama Hotel.

 

Day 04: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,430 m/11,253 ft)

 

Trek distance: 14 km

Trek time: 6-7 hours

Highest Altitude: 3,430 m/11,253 ft

 

Climbing through a forest, we will walk though Ghore Tabela with a small sneak peak of Langtang Lirung With a gentle climb after the forest, the valley slowly opens taking you to pasture where you can see yaks grazing. With a bit more walking, we will reach our destination of the day, Langtang village.

 

Today’s difficulty can be caused by higher elevation instead of a longer walk.

 

Day 06: Langtang village to Kyangin Gompa (3,870 m/12,696 ft)

 

Trek distance: 11.5 km

Trek time: 5–6 hours

Highest Altitude: (4300 m/14107 ft)

 

Walking through Mundu, we will take a gradual ascent through grazing lands and crossing small river streams, taking us to the small settlement of Kyagjin. You can take a rest, but if you still have energy, hiking to Kyangjin Ri (4300 m/14107 ft) and returning to Kyangjin Gompa today will be worth it with fantastic Himalayan scenery.

 

 

Day 6: Acclamatization Hike to Tserko-Ri (5033 m/16,500 ft)

Trek Distance: 9 km

Highest Altitude: 5033 m/16,500 ft

 

Today we will take an acclamatization hike to Tserko Ri. We will find many flags at the summit that make it all colorful, and vibrant.

Tesrko Ri offers a beautiful view of Yala Peak, Langtang Ri, Langtang Lirung, and Naya Khang along with a 360-degree view of the Langtang Valley. .

 

Day 7: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (3,430 m/11,253 ft)

Trek distance: 20 km

Trek time: 7-8 hours

Highest Altitude: (2,380 m/7,809 ft)

 

Enjoying the beauty of the valley here one more time, we will trace back our steps through the same route, crossing Ghoda Tabla, and crossing the Langtang Khola. Today’s destination is back to Lama Hotel.

Day 8: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,210m / 8,500ft)

The trail begins with a gentle descent. Today's trail can give you sight of wild life including red pandas, monkeys and many species of birds.

 

Thulo Syabru is a wonderful village with amazing landscape with amazing views of Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Himal.

Day 9: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3,250m/ 10,662 ft)

Trek Time: 3-4 hours

Trek Distance: 6.7 km

Highest Altitude: 3,250m/ 10,662 ft

 

The trail takes you through a difficult and  steep ascent through Dursagang along with a beautiful view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Himal, Hemlock, and more. We will walk across rhododenron forests, monastries, and schools and enter the Tamang Heritage trail. Past this ascent is a flat surface that takes you to Sin Gompa with a local cheese factory and a buddhist monastery.

 

Day 10: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,380m / 14,620ft)

Trek Time: 7-8 hours

Trek Distance: 11.4 km

Highest Altitude: 4,380m / 14,620ft

 

Walking past Cholangpati, today's ascent will give you beautiful views of Langtang range. Walking thorugh the desolate barren mountain trail, the views will get even more magnificient with views of more peaks including Ganesh Himal. Within a few hours, we will reach Laure Binayak taking you a step closer to Gosaikunda. Travel along Laurebina Pass, the highest point in this trek, and with 2 hours of walk, we will reach a chorten and walking an hour further, we will have beautiful views of waterfall and lakes incuding Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda as you reach Gosaikunda.

 

Gosaikunda is a holy site where the Hindus relate to Lord Shiva. It is believed that he came here to soothe his burning throat adter saving the world by consuming poison. Many travel with religious purpose believing that the awater here can wash away their sins.

Day 11: Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3,530m /11,265ft) via Lauribinayak La (4610 m/ 15,125 ft)

Trek Time: 7-8 hours

Trek Distance: 15 km

Highest Altitude: 4610 m/ 15,125 ft

 

Crossing the Laurebinayak La, we will trek to Ghopte. The Laurebinayak La High Pass gives a scenic view of the Helambu region. We will then descend through the High Camp (4,240m) and walk down a steeper and recky path to Phedi. Passing some smaller lakes on the way, we will enter the Helambu region. Today, we will also enjoy the excellent views of the Tadi Khola valley to the south.

Day 12: Ghopte to Kutumsang (2,470m / 8,560ft)

Trek Time: 5 hours

Trek Distance: 13.5 km

Highest Altitude: 3,530m /11,265ft

 

The trail takes us through the forest of pine and juniper today which will last about 2 hours of walking downhill and a bit of an ascent to Tharepati. From Tharepati, the past descends through the forest, making us pass a large meadow and a view of Gangchempo and Dorje Lakpa peaks. The trail will get even steeper and take us through Kuala Bhanjyang (3,335m). Finally, with a descent, we will reach Kutumsang for the night.

 

Day 13: Drive Kutumsang to Kathmandu

We will end the trek today. Say goodbye to the trail and drive back to Kathmandu. As you drive towards Kathmandu, you'll pass through picturesque landscapes, terraced fields, and small villages. You can rest, roam around the streets and shop for souvenirs. Let us end the day by discussing the treks and all the fun you had in the trail with a farewell dinner from us.

Day 14: International Departure

Highest Altitude: 1,350 m/ 4,430 ft

 

The day you bid your goodbye to Nepal, we will assist you one last time with luggage and even provide transportation for your international departure. Make sure to be prepared to reach the airport 3 hours beforehand.
