Embark on the Everest Base Camp (EBC) along with the thrill of Island Peak Climbing Trek. This is an extraordinary adventure that combines the classic trek of the Everest Base Camp with the thrilling ascent of Island Peak (Imja Tse).You will climb to the summit of Island Peak at 6,189 meters (20,305 feet), that offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and Ama Dablam.
This journey offers an unparalleled experience, blending breathtaking scenery, cultural immersion, and the personal triumph of summiting a Himalayan peak. This journey will test your limits and keep on rewarding you with majestic views.
Health and Equipment requirements:
This trek seeks a good physical fitness and prior trekking experience as we will have activity of climbing the Island Peak. Make sure you are packed ieth essential gear including warm clothes, crampons, ice axes, harness, trekking boots and more as per directed by the guide. Having guide for this trek is essential but still not required.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Highest Altitude: 1350 m
Welcome to the land of Nepal. As your flight lands at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representatives will escort you and your stuff to your designated hotel in Kathmandu. Rest, freshen up, and explore Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu. You must also make sure that you are well prepared for the trek, including proper shoes, equipment, clothes, and others. It is better if we get to brief you on the itinerary before the trek begins.
Day 2: Trek Prepration and Explore Kathmandu
Today make sure you are fully prepared for the upcoming trek. Sit with your trekking company/ guide for a briefing and make sure your bag is packed.
To enjoy the rest of the day we have many options: Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, and more that will give you a tour to the unique architecture, culture, and lifestyle.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m/ 9,187 ft) Flight and Trek to Phakding (2,860 m/ 9,184ft)

We will take an early morning flight to Lukla, where we will take a rest as teh preparation are being made. We can rest and have some warm tea at an altitude of 2,800m. Soon, we'll travel towards Phakding for the night.
Day 4: Phakding (2,860 m/ 9,184ft) to Namche (3,440 m/11,283 ft)

Today, our journey will take us over suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Bridge. There will be up and down slopes, walks over the Dudhkoshi River, and also through the rhododendron blossom-filled woods.
Jorsale is the last village before Namche where we can make a stop. After a few hours of more hiking, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar, a comparatively advanced and well-liked tourist destination inside Sagarmatha National Park. This well-established community has decent housing, dining options, and ATMs.
Day 5: Acclamatization day at Namche (Hike to Everest View Hotel)

To avoid altitude sickness, we must acclimatize in Namche Bazaar. The best day to spend the day is to trek to the Everest View Hotel. This spot offers breathtaking views of mountains such as Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku, and Cholatse, as well as the village of Tengboche that will just take your breath away. Along the way, we will also pass by Syangboche Airport, which is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world.
You have other options including the Khumjung village, which is just a short walk from the Everest View Hotel. Or, there are also nearby museums and monasteries you may choose to explore.
Day 6: Namche (3,440 m/11,283 ft) to Tengboche (3,860 m/ 12,660 ft)

We will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas during the first portion of the walk, which is also rather easy. We will then hike downhill to Phunke Tenga, walking past yet another dense, rhododendron-filled forest. We will then walk past Phunke Tenga and arrive at Tengboche.
Tengboche is a beautiful settlement with famous cafes and Tengboche Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu region. Tengboche will have a magnificent view of Ama Dablam as well.
Day 7: Tengboche (3,860 m/ 12,660 ft) to Dingboche (4,410 m/14,464 ft)

Today we will also explore the yak pasture land as we start with a downhill trek and then through a dense forest, providing ample shade. The trail will take you from Debouche, and after crossing the bridge, to the village of Pangboche, which offers stunning views of Ama Dablam and the surrounding landscape. Here, we'll also see a gompa and the Buddhist Mani Wall.
After traversing several hills, and reaching the Imja Khola, a tributary of the Dudh Koshi, we'll soon arrive at Dingboche. This village features numerous chortens, horse stables, and shops to explore.
Day 8: Acclamatization Day at Dingboche

Today is another day for acclamatization just above the town that will provide a beautiful view of Makalu, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu. After enjoying the views, we will descend back to Dingboche.
We will soon return here after EBC for our Island Peak climb.
Day 9: Dingboche (4,410 m/14,464 ft) to Lobuche (4,910 m/ 16,105 ft)

Ascending through Dugla we will make our way to Lobuche with beautiful views of Cholatse and Tawache upclose. Then there will be a steep ascent at the foot of Khumbu Glacier, and then soon reach the memorial space for the climbers who died ascending their dream, Mt Everest. Moving a bit further, you will reach Lobuche, the destination for the day.
Day 10: Lobuche (4,910 m/ 16,105 ft) to Gorekshep (5,130m/16,830 ft) and Hike to Everest Base Camp (5,181 m/ 16,994 ft)

The walk will be on a rocky trail towards Gorekshep today aiming to reach the Everest Base Camp. From Gorekshep, you will get challenges like strong wind, cold temperature but it all is indeed worth it with the view of Khumbu Glacier along the way.
Everest Base Camp will have a beautiful view of the surrounding peaks but a reminder that Everest is not visible from here. Mount Everest can be enjoyed from Kala Patthar tomorrow. After enjoying the heart’s content, we will trace our way back to Gorakshep for the night.
Day 11: Early Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m/ 18,188 ft) and trek to Dingboche (4,410 m/14,464 ft)

Wake up early before the light hits your face. We will take a hike to Kala Patthar with a torch light in hand. Upon arriving at Kala Patthar, you will need to b e ready for the stunning views of the sunlight coloring the snowcapped canvas. We will take a moment to appreciate these beautiful views including that of Mount Everest.
Walking back to Dingboche is litreally 16 km more now which will be about 4 hours of continuous walk.
Day 12: Trek from Dingboche (4,410 m/14,464 ft) to Chhukung (4,730m/15.514 ft)

Passing by the mani walls at the skirts of Dingboche, we will follow the trail along the rocky ridgelines towards Chhukung village. Along the trail, we will come across yak grazing in an open field until we reach Bibre. Just a few walks along from Bibre, we will reach our destination, Chhukung.
Keep the Chhukung Ri hike for the next day!
Day 13: Hike to Chhukung Ri (5,546m/ 18,190 ft) and to Island Peak Base Camp (5,100m/ 16,732 ft)

Today we will wake up early, and head to the main destination of this trek: Island Peak Base Camp. Following the glacial moraine, we will trek out of Chuckung. We will walk through small hills, flat sand plains until we reach infront of the Island Peak and Lhotse. From here, we will take the trailf from the right of Island Peak that will lead directly towards Island Base Camp.
Today’s highlight will be the view from Imja valley and oviously the Island Peak Base Camp. If we have time and good weather, we may even end up training a bit to go higher up in the mountain.
Day 14: Climb Island Peak Summit (6,981m/ 20,300 ft) and back to Chhukung (4,730m/15.514 ft)

We will brief on the climbing strategy today before trying the early ascent. Make sure to communicate well with your guide before starting your day. To use the stable weather, we ought to start early.
We will first climb up from the Island Peak Base Camp to the high camp (5,600m) where the climbers need to find a well defined route covered all in snow. Upon reaching the High Camp, we will attempt to summit the peak now. Continuing our climb, we will move past steep rock into a ridgeline. The ridgeline takes us to a challenging 100m headwall section. Finishing this challange, we will reach the summit of Island Peak. This is the moment of celebration where we can rejoice our accomplishment that we travelled and spent all these 14 days in the trail for. The top will have the magnificent Himalayan scenery of Mt. Lhotse (8,501m), Mt. Nuptse (7,879m), Mt. Lhotse Shar (8,383m), Mt. Makalu (8,475m) and Mt. Amadablam (6,812m).After enjoying the successful climb of Island Peak we will now descend to Chhukung for the night.
Day 15: Extra Day for climbing due to Bad Weather
Keep an extra day or more perhaps just for the possibility that a summit may not be possible due to the bad weather.
Day 16: Trek from Chhukung (4,730m/15,514 ft) to Pangboche (3,940 m/ 12,927 ft)

From Chukung all we will do now is retrace our steps back to the village of Pangboche.
Day 17: Pangboche (3,940 m/ 12,927 ft) to Namche (3,440m/ 11,287 ft)

With a good breakfast, we will continue the downhill walk and then will start climbing back up through a rhododendron forest towards Tengboche. From here, we will walk though the bridge over dudh kosi. Walking past Phunki Tenga with water driven prayer wheels, we will make our way to Namche for the night.
Day 18: Namche (3,440m/ 11,287 ft) to Lukla (2,800m/ 9,187 ft)

Highest Altitude: 3,440m/ 11,287 ft
Today, we will have an easy walk as we will mostly have a downhill walk. We will cross forests, landscapes, and villages to reach Lukla where all of this adventure once began. We will rest here for the night, and might as well celebrate the end of the trek.
Day 19: Morning flight to Kathmandu
Flight Time: 40 minutes
HIghest Altitude: 2,800m/ 9,187 ft
The flight is only availabe early in the morning as said. Hence, we will take the morning flight to Kathmandu. Take a rest, explore the streets of Kathmandu and especially of thamel, take the day for relaxing at a spa and do not forget to buy sovinuers.
Day 20: International Departure
Highest Altitude: 1,350 m/ 4,430 ft
The day you bid your goodbye to Nepal, we will assist you one last time with luggage and even provide transportation for your international departure. Make sure to be prepared to reach the airport 3 hours beforehand.
